Hi Nancy!

100 gallons of goat milk daily for cheese making is a lot of cheese. Do you produce your own milk? Where in Isabela is your farm? I'd love to visit your farm one day when I'm in Isabela. The 5th. National Goat and Sheep Congress will be held on March 22 to 24, 2012 at the Hotel Stotsenberg in Clark, Pampanga. We'd love to assign you a slot during one of our Technical sessions if you would care to share your experience in cheese making. Let me know by emailing me at ben.a.rara@barfarm.com.

I am a goat cheesemaker, using 100 gallons of milk daily. This summer I also learned how to milk using a machine and with 24 goats of different breeds: Oberhasli, Alpine, & LaMancha. I have my own Nubian goats which I prefer when making cheese due to high butterfat content which makes cheese tastier. I would love to share my experience if anyone is interested. Goat milk is medicinal & has numerous health benefits, relatively cheaper than if you were to buy medicine or if you go to a doctor.

As for meat goat, consider KIKO goats, they are hardy and are low maintenance. I find Boer goats too high maintenance. I believe in organic & anything natural. Injecting antibiotics, and unnecessary medicines is not my thing. As long as you keep areas clean, and the feeding area clean, and they have good forage it will keep goats healthy.

My family owns a 19 hectare fenced-in farm in Isabela. Please let me know if interested.
